Niguel Shores

Residential Interior Design

June 2025

This Niguel Shores home was refreshed and modernized to create a contemporary, beach-chic environment while maintaining the light, relaxed coastal feel the clients cherished. The renovation included opening up the ceilings by removing select cross beams, adding fresh paint throughout and updating all doors and trim to create a clean cohesive backdrop.

The client wanted to keep the existing cabinets, so we updated with new shelves, warmer paint and changed out the moulding and trim. Since the home lacked a bar area, we integrated wine refrigeration, and a custom shelving unit to create a stylish bar area on one side of the kitchen.

A standout feature is the living room fireplace. The original brick fireplace was transformed into a dramatic focal point with a smooth plaster surround, wall to wall chiseled stone hearth, and a custom driftwood log mantle sourced from Tennessee . Flanked by reclaimed wood shelves, the fireplace brings an organic sculptural element that grounds the space and compliments the home's modern Beach House feel. The custom sectional and leather chairs maximize seating while keeping the space cozy and inviting.

In the great room, the existing modern fireplace lacked visual impact, so I painted the back wall a rich dark neutral to create depth and drama. Layered textures including a seagrass rug, cream nubby chairs, leather, a natural wall hanging and of course a pop of color on the pillows were all added to add warmth and dimension, resulting in a casual yet sophisticated space.

The result is a modern, updated home that balances clean, contemporary lines with a relaxed coastal aesthetic, fresh, functional, and deeply reflective of the clients’ beach lifestyle.
